Llinos Medi: My First 100 Days

I love Anglesey - the endless countryside, the beautiful coast and the comfort of being at home. Anglesey is my anchor.
But now, every week, I am called to make the trip to London,
changing the quiet life of the Island for the noise and bustle of the city.

As the train starts to race, so does my mind. Leaving the Island always brings a feeling of nostalgia; a feeling I never seem to get used to. The intimacy of Anglesey suddenly disappears as the coast of North Wales is replaced by the unfamiliar bustle of the cities of Southern England.

Westminster is a completely different world - full of history, yet bound by tradition. With its ancient procedures, it is like something from another era. Yes, there is a sense of seriousness and value to being here, but it can also feel quite disconnected from the reality of everyday life in my community.

Progress in Parliament

I have recently joined APPGs, which stands for 'All Party Parliamentary Groups'. These groups allow me to examine policy and ask questions about specific sectors. At the moment, I have joined three groups, namely Nuclear, Tourism and Marine Energy. These are all vital sectors for Anglesey and I am excited to contribute and ensure that our community will benefit directly in these sectors.

Left behind?

London is a city full of life, moving and evolving non-stop, the streets are full of people from all over the world.
The buildings stretch endlessly into the clouds, with new developments being built daily. There is a feeling of energy and opportunity here, where every corner holds something new and exciting. It is a dynamic place, with shops full of customers, the cafes always busy, and people looking forward to the next big thing. But in the midst of all the activity, it's easy to feel that other parts of the country are being left behind.

While cities like London are thriving, with investment pouring in and new projects being launched constantly,
the story can be different for the towns of Anglesey. Walking through the quiet streets of Amlwch or Holyhead, the contrast is hard to ignore. The lack of energy and excitement that fuels London is palpable. It's not that the island has no potential - far from it - but we really need more investment and opportunities to give new life to our communities.

Despite the challenges, we in Anglesey have every reason to remain positive. With world-renowned renewable energy projects such as Morlais, Môn Mam Cymru is on the map and a sign/symbol of our island's great potential. I am committed to the people of Anglesey and I want to ensure a brighter future for all of us.

In my first 100 days, I have been overwhelmed by the support and kindness. The uniqueness of our community is something special, and it motivates me every day to work harder for our island. We have so much to be proud of and even more to look forward to.

Together, we will continue to make Anglesey the place we all know and love.
