As part of Plaid Cymru's manifesto pomise to ensure local houses for local people, residents ar about to move in to six new flats which have been developed in the middle of Beaumaris.
The scheme has been welcomed by Anglesey’s Deputy Leader and Housing Service portfolio holder, Councillor Gary Pritchard and his fellow Seiriol ward members, Councillor Carwyn Jones and Councillor Alun Roberts.
"This is the latest council housing development project on the island. It represents our continued commitment to provide affordable social housing to local tenants within the heart of their communities," said Gary Pritchad
"Increasing our social housing stock was one of our manifest pledges as Plaid Cymru Councillors and it has been made a strategic target that is highlighted in our Housing Strategy Plan."
The former Beaumaris Social Club building was bought by the Council via a compulsory purchase order (CPO) after the building had fallen into disrepair and came to be in a serious and dangerous condition but has since been transformed into six modern apartments.
"A tremendous amount of work has gone in behind the scenes over the years to make this happen and the result is truly breathtaking," said Carwyn Jones.
"A huge thanks goes to the vision of Anglesey County Council led by Plaid Cymru and to DEWIS Architecture, Dewi Hughes and GMC for delivering a first class build project."
Responding to local housing challenges is one of the Council Plan's strategic objectives in order to fulfil Plaid Cymru's promise that everyone has the right to call somewhere home.
