Rhun ap Iorwerth MS responds to approval of Holyhead's Levelling Up Fund bid

Today, Anglesey Council’s £17m Levelling Up Fund bid for Holyhead was approved (19/1/23)

In response, Rhun ap Iorwerth, MS for Ynys Môn said:

"I’m very pleased that the Plaid Cymru-led County Council’s funding bid has been approved bringing with it welcome and important investment for the town of Holyhead. Partners including the Town Council and MonCF should be congratulated too, and I’m looking forward to seeing the various projects come to fruition.

“However, we can't ignore the fact that the level of funding available for Ynys Môn now is lower than pre-Brexit - the Conservatives' broke their promise that we would "not receive a penny less" after leaving the EU.

"And the unstrategic nature of how these so-called levelling up funds work are a big problem too. I want to make sure that ALL parts of Anglesey are able to benefit from funding, and that places like Amlwch and our rural communities are in line for support too. I'll do everything I can to make that happen."
